Photographing Singers- Heath Photography & Idol on the River

Saturday evening found Heath Photography, camera in hand, at Bonnie Castle Resort & Marina for the 2nd Annual Singing Competition. The event brought over 300 guests. Second round will be held next Saturday, March 12th. Doors are at 6 and the show is at 7:30.
We were asked to showcase each singer in a timeless portrait. You can see all the contestants below.
Kelsey Amell is a second year participant. Kelsey is from Tupper Lake and is a single mommy of a 2 year old boy Carter. She believes it is important to let your colors fly no matter what! Her favorite band is Breaking Benjamin.
Keith Davis is a first year contestant who loves all kinds of music. He auditioned for American Idol and the Voice.
Mason Rogers is an 18 year old from Hammond, NY. This is his first time performing on River Idol. Ellie Goulding is his favorite singer.
Guy Angel, from Plessis, NY, loves George Jone’s music. He is a delivery driver for Frey in Watertown and has driven over 320,000 miles in 5.5 years!
Nick Brizee, from Cape Vincent, NY, has been singing as long as he can remember! He loves listening to The Temptations harmonize.
Michelle Gaeta is originally from downstate. She’s been in this area for just under two years and misses her family a lot. Her favorite musical acts range from Enya, to Godsmack, to classical music, and anything in between.
Tony Ivey was born in Cape Vincent and raised in Atlanta. He’s been singing in the shower since the age of 5. He also loves football; he’s the captain of Watertown’s Red and Black Team. He loves Garth Brooks & Andrea Bocelli.
Ashley Hazlewood is a hairdresser from Clayton, NY. She is currently studying criminal justice at JCC. She loves the music and art of Ingrid Michaelson. This is her second year participating in River Idol.
Lacey Isom, is from Peoria, IL but is in the area with her fiancé who is stationed at Fort Drum. She is a registered nurse at the River Hospital. Family and music are two of the most important things to her, and she loves Adele.
Laurie Hull, is from Brockville, Ontario. She is a registered nurse and a second year participant. She loves family, friends, and singing. Martina McBride is her favorite vocalist for her amazing range.
Faith Dewees, is also from Tupper Lake. She works at the Golden Arrow Resort in the Adirondacks. Music & God are her absolute passions. This is her first time participating, and she is singing “I Will Be There.”
Sarah Cook “Cooki” sang “Wild Horses.” She’s from the Thousand Islands, born and raised, and she works at River Hospital. Music is a huge part of her life, rivaled only be her 7 year old, Maesin. She loves the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, & The Beatles.
Michael Cooke is the mother of two teenage boys and lives in Depauville with her boyfriend and his two boys. She works at Channelside Restaurant in Clayton. She sang “Unchained Melody.”
Beth Garrett sang “All of Me” by John Legend. She considers her courage to get on-stage in front of judges a huge win after letting her nerves get the best of her in North Country Idol 2012. She has three children and loves Lizzy Hale.
Rachel Riley, is a writer and mother of three from Richville. She loves singing, especially in church. On Saturday she sang “At Last.” She is proud to compete in a competition that supports the 10th Mountain Division.
Brooke Arquitt, a bank teller at Community Bank, is only 20 years old, but a second year participant. She sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” The Sweeny Todd soundtrack is one of her favs because she loves Tim Burton as well.
Jacquelyn Dupcavitch, from Theresa, NY, is also a second year participant. Carrie Underwood is a singer that she can truly relate to. She sang, “What I Cannot Change.”
Ed Sharlow prefers to listen to music that is true to its real country and western roots like Jamie Johnson. He is from Watertown, NY, and has been singing for over 30 years. He lists stonemason as his dayjob.
Lindsey Paranzino will sing anything that’s got soul. Originally from Rhode Island, she has raised her family here for the last 8 years. When she’s not singing, she’s training and sitting for pets at Paranzino Pet Care which she owns. She feels blessed to have met some great friends through River Idol last year.
TJ Murphy, used to be scared to sing in public, but you wouldn’t have guessed that when he sang, “She Believes In Me.” He is originally from Maine and now works at the Department of Veteran Affairs. He is very passionate about helping the veterans.
Amanda Bradbury is a second year participant in River Idol. She is excited to support such a worthy cause. Amanda works at the The Children’s Home of Jefferson County, and her chosen song was, “Almost Lover.”
